Learning Max

MaxMSP

Something we learn more in detail this year. For this semester, we are to create an interactive piece of program with Max, with relation to music of course.
To challenge myself (technically untrained), I came up with an idea.

1. Real-time audio input through Max and playback final result.
2. Using "fiddle" to detect pitch and choosing a certain number to active a sound/note.
3. High frequencies will result in shorter length of notes
4. Low frequencies will result in longer length of notes
5. Interactive part will be when we make sound or noise which will be picked up by the microphone and then process under the above conditions.
6. Using a limiter or fadeout of loops on top of it to prevent producing a wall of sound.

I really like Rob's line, "Idea is everything." It inspires me to try to get this done within the time constrains.
Hopefully I can get some progress screenshot up, or posting a recorded performance of this. Since the program will produce music that is never the same every time, I am really looking forward to the final result.
Hi blog, I'm back :D

Well, if you've followed me on my SoundCloud, you did not miss much. But if you haven't, I've been well and alive.

I've been gone for almost a year without blogging XD Wow, time flies.
Here are some of the highlights of what I've done since the last update. For more, go to my profile on SoundCloud :)
I realized the icon of Blogger and SoundCloud are very similar, it confuses me sometimes.

The starting is the scene of a corpse, rotting, with flies around it and it fades away and showing the parts of what had happened to the poor soul. In the end, it's just an empty shell.

This track was done very near to the day I did Chidori last year. I am starting to think, this part of the year is my inspiration time.

Still remember that time I was attempting to compose a jazzy piece? Here's one! My dad requested it as his birthday gift :3 So I gladly composed this laid back track for him.

Also, I did background music for this adorable short film from final year students of The One Academy.

As for current plans, I agreed to help out an animation student's final year project in my university. Moar bgm! Moar fun! I'm really looking forward to it.
My final year major project is concept album. I'm thinking of making an orchestra soundtrack and folk-ish piano/woodwinds tracks. It's all still not set in stones yet but I'm excited for it. I've requested Timothy Blinko to be my personal tutor. Hope to learn loads from him :D
