I have created a new OC(original character), Kizken Vi to join the Symphoria group in Deviantart. After I created him I promised I will make a theme for him.. and today, instead of concentrating on my another composition, I took the time to do this :D
It's a little experiment I did, combining minor chords with major melody. (Dual modality)

And now, about his little backstory unrelated to him and his new life in Symphoria. You can ignore this.
He is Diacrofia's distant relative. Surprise! \o/
It's not like they've met each other very frequently in their life anyway. Some time after Diacrofia was brought to the Mansion, Kizken was killed in the war. He was quite young then, and was forced to join the army. They can't even differentiate which body is his amidst the sea of corpse because he died a gruesome way, chewed by vicious battle monsters. He gained a new life in Symphoria, and had forgotten everything about his past life, which is a good thing.
In Symphoria, he is a Griffides, a griffin hybrid much like his past life.
Took a strange direction
Statue and the Sea has went to a direction where I didn't plan it to be.
I think it's mostly because I'm using diatonic and chromatic mediant for the coloring passage, and a bit of 9 and 13. Reminds me a little of the pieces one of my seniors like to play, house music. The chords they use are pretty, I should borrow one to analyze a bit.
I have written the sketch for the lyric near the end. However I still think it needs improvement. Hmm...

Coming up stuff- and Kaito & English
I'm working on the new song named Statue and the Sea.
It's about the love of a statue and the sea who can never meet each other forever and ever, unless.... xD
To be honest, I really wanted to try a Kaito and Prima duet (since I really like them and I have them only). But making Kaito's English pronunciation clear and good is a real challenge to me, much like Prima's Japanese pronunciation will be a challenge to me (since I haven't really tried it yet). I hope they will mix well together and be good friends :D (or lovers in this song)
Now I just wanted to share my little experience I got when making Kaito sing English. If you know anymore techniques you can share it with me too.
I have tried a lot of ways to make him sing certain words that are "unnatural" to Japanese pronunciation. Some worked, some didn't. And some only work if I link it to another word. Increasing the noise seemed to be quite effective to bring out the "t" and "s" but too much will not be very smooth and nice. To make the "h" sounds clearer in certain words, I used "h e" phoneme right before the beat (so it has to be short but audible). For "b" like the word "Bring" I used "b M" then only "4 i N\" because "b 4 i N\" directly is not really effective. It is also useful to add another layer of voice just to do all these extra stuff( so that you can link those pronunciation together without getting lumps in his voice). The "s" are quite good actually. So I normally don't do anything extra to it unless needed.
Oh yea, I normally stick the "s" directly with the word, meaning I don't create another note specifically for the "s". Example like "Stand", I will use "s t e N d" (or if you want more "omp" to your "d" you can make it with "d M", but very shortly.)
Well, this is what I do so far. I may change some of the things I did here in the future if I found anything better. :) Hope it is a bit helpful to whomever that want to let Kaito sing English.

Sometimes I wonder should a composer compose a music according to a style or genre chosen, and that composition can only limit to the style or genre chosen?
And if the composer put in other elements, will they be criticized for "destroying" or "rojak-ing" the style/genre?
It is impossible to please everyone, so for me, I'll just say, go on and make your own music. or something xD

Ear check up
I have been having random pain from the inside of my left ear, and it's becoming quite frequent recently. So I decided to go have a check up on my ears today.
After a few tests, the doctor said my ear was fine, in fact it was good.
But from the graph that I saw, my right ear is stronger than my left ear, either that or my left ear is weaker. but both are around 10-5 so it's okay I guess haha ^_^
The doctor do ask me not to dig my ears frequently because it will cause severe pain, that reminds me I have a habit doing that...ehem, sometime... maybe I should stop o_o
I got a little bottle of ear drop to use when necessary
